The Change-Up (2011) - Comedy

The Change-Up (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Get ready for the F-word every other word, soft porn, and nudity. Even though it is a typical 'the grass is greener on the other side' cliché that we have seen repeated so many times before in the form of mother/daughter, father/son switches, this movie has something special that Bateman and Reynolds bring out in their subtle, but brilliant acting. Nothing was done over the top and it's brilliance was in it's simplicity.
So if you're in the mood for a simple, raunchy-ish comedy (a la The Hangover), you'll be pleased. If not, skip this!

Father of Invention (2011) - Comedy | Drama

Father of Invention (2011) - BAD MOVIE

Apart from Kevin Spacey who is trying his best with the terrible script he was given this movie is not worth your time. The story feels lazy and cliché, characters are the most artificial bunch of illogical people I've seen in a long time.
Avoid this film if you can, there are too many boring and inconsequential filler scenes in it to make this an easy sit-through.

The Hangover Part II (2011) - Comedy

The Hangover Part II (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

The Hangover part II is still hilarious, but not as good, funny, and crazy as the first Hangover. Don't get me wrong this movie is still great, and there are various bits that make you laugh-out-loud. But the first Hangover was packed with outrageous laughs and was overall way better. If you loved the first Hangover you will love this too, it is still a bit predictable, and there are bits that are very similar to the Hangover, but you will enjoy it and the main characters are back. So, overall, it's very funny, crazy and fun!

Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011) - Comedy | Drama | Romance

Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

It's Crazy, it's Stupid, but in the end it's Love!
Crazy, Stupid, Love is a romantic comedy about a variety of individuals as they embark on their own struggles with relationships and mostly love. There is some great acting, hilarious one liners, and a few hopeless romantics. It is very idealistic, a little over the top at the end, but I really enjoyed it!
All in all, it's definitely a film that you won't want to miss!

Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) - Animation | Action | Adventure

Kung Fu Panda 2 - GREAT ANIMATION

Kung Fu Panda 2, as expected and anticipated, is touching, full of heart, awe-inspiring at times, hilarious in others, and constantly filled with meaning. It is a film that can entertain and capture a child's imagination, but also tug the heartstrings of adults. And it made my first hungry for justice.
Get ready to feel the thunder because this is Kung Fu Panda 2!

Trust (2011) - Drama | Thriller

Trust (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

This movie begin so simple and unattractive. Nothing catch up on me at the first time only it was the online chatty girl's story. Until I go through it, this movie get into my heart! It's about a teenage girl (Anni) who gets raped by an idiot sex offender. It has a deep impact on the girls mental health and also sends shockwaves through her family. Dad goes nuts and mother tries to be there for her daughter, but can't really handle the situation. This isn't fantasy, this is reality.
Overall, it's a superb movie which I would recommend to everyone!

The Smurfs (2011) - Animation | Adventure | Comedy

The Smurfs (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Having grown up watching The Smurfs cartoon on television I was really looking forward to seeing The Smurfs on the big screen and for me it didn't disappoint.
The Smurfs stayed true to their cute and happy selves throughout, and the voices of the characters were extremely well suited.
I had a lot of fun watching this movie and would definitely recommend it.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - BAD MOVIE

Strong start, then quickly ran out of steam. I liked the idea of the idealistic, but physically weak protagonist who was impossibly patriotic, but beyond that the movie completely fails. I have never understood why superhero movies always feel the need to go completely over the top with outrageous super-villains.
I would recommend that you skip it.

Midnight in Paris (2011) - Comedy | Fantasy | Romance

Midnight in Paris (2011) - GREAT MOVIE

Original beyond belief featuring strong performances, charm and laughs and just an amazing story. Woody Allen directs an amazing movie. Highly recommended.

Faces in the Crowd (2011) - Crime | Drama | Mystery

Faces in the Crowd (2011) - BAD MOVIE

It was an interesting premise, losing facial recognition, and could have been a really good storyline, but overall it was very poorly written and executed. Too many situations were forced. And the main characters made really poor decisions multiple times throughout the movie - the ones that make you think "really? come on...". The characters that played Bryce all looked similar, so I had trouble telling them apart - maybe I've lost facial recognition too.
All in all, don't bother if you ask me.

Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) - Comedy | Family

Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

There is nothing fantastic, fresh, or very original about Mr. Popper's Penguins, but there is enough good humor and a solid performance by Jim Carrey which makes it worth a look.
All in all, this is a sweet film that is great for both adults and children. It has the heart warming factor along with humor - perfect combination!

Flypaper (2011) - Comedy | Crime

Flypaper (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

A crime comedy that's unique and messy and nowhere near realistic. The acting was excellent. Patrick Dempsey (Mcdreamy) and Ashley Judd go well together. Its got a plot inside a plot, which makes it a very clever piece of entertainment. Not for once, would you confused about the state of events. Its depicted in a clear manner, which would be understood to all.
Overall, a very very exciting and fun way to spend an hour and a half.

Horrible Bosses (2011) - Comedy | Crime

Horrible Bosses (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

This movie is so ridiculous! That's it's strong suit! That's what makes it funny and interesting!
The cast was incredible. The writing was solid. Although silly, even the plot is engaging and extremely relatable. This is a movie for someone looking for a good laugh. That's it! Don't take it too seriously! Don't dissect it, examining its cinematic integrity at a molecular level! Just enjoy it!

A Little Bit of Heaven (2011) - Comedy | Drama | Romance

A Little Bit of Heaven (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

This isn't a fluffy romantic comedy. The premise is about Marley (Kate Hudson) who doesn't want to fall in love, finds out she is dying of cancer and slowly falls in love with her doctor.
This is an enjoyable film which starts off as a light comedy and the themes of the movie slowly become more daunting and upsetting.
BRING TISSUES. It is a weepie. No masterpiece, but certainly see it to decide for yourself.

Water for Elephants (2011) - Drama | Romance

Water for Elephants (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Water For Elephants takes us back in time, not just because it is set in the 30's but also because the movie is filmed with such quality and attention to detail, it is very much like movies used to be made.
Romantic, sweeping, frightening and sometimes violent - this film is TRUE-to-life, while still being BIGGER-than-life.
Its tag line is "Life is the most spectacular show on earth", and once you've seen the film, it's the perfect statement.

Friends with Benefits (2011) - Comedy | Romance

Friends with Benefits (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Good film, not great but good. The chemistry between Kunis and Timberlake is superb. As predictable as the story is it's worth the watch with some inspiring, funny and meaningful parts.

Anonymous (2011) - Drama | Thriller

Anonymous (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

"I, once gone, to all the world must die." – William Shakespeare, Sonnet #81
"Anonymous" is a story that accounts the theory that William Shakespeare did not write all the works credited to William Shakespeare. Instead the true author is Edward, Earl of Oxford, a nobleman of the court of Queen Elizabeth I. It is known as the Oxfordian Theory and it is a real theory.
Maybe, it is not a masterpiece, maybe a terrible insult to our sacred knowledge, but, like a drawing by a child, in few parts, it is touching.
Overall, "Anonymous" is an interesting and entertaining film that will get people talking about who the real author of the plays are. The least anyone would get out of it is two hours of a fun "what if?" scenario. The performances by the cast is what really makes the film, though. If it wasn't for the cast, the film wouldn't have worked.

Thor (2011) - Action | Adventure | Fantasy

Thor (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

I've never read a Thor comic and I expected this movie to be dire, in fact I was pleasantly surprised. Thor truly defines the word "Blockbuster". It has an abundance of testosterone fueled action, a plethora of mind-blowing special effects, a hint of well-timed humor sprinkled throughout it's 111 minutes running time, and a powerful yet fragile protagonist that you actually care about by the time the credits roll.
I highly recommend seeing this film, it lives up to the hype, which is rare for most blockbusters, but in the case of The Mighty Thor, thankfully it's true.

X-Men First Class (2011) - Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi

X-Men First Class (2011) - GREAT MOVIE

This absolutely wipes the floor with X-men Origins Wolverine and X-men The Last Stand, and in my opinion is even better then X-men 1 and 2. The story is so well told, all the characters are brilliantly fleshed out and every one of them either has a really interesting character arc or is just awesome or funny. Background music was awesome, it suited great with the movie. Overall excellent film - drama, action, effects, acting - can't really ask for more.

Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides (2011) - Action | Adventure | Fantasy

Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

As a fan of the previous three pirates movies, I had high hopes for the 4th movie. The 2nd and 3rd movie were pretty good, but overall are not as good as the 1st one. Pirates of the Carribean - On Stranger Tides is a incredible movie to watch for any fans of the previous movies. The costuming was spot on and authentic. The locations were breathtaking and the action was as great as the previous movies. The new cast members did a fantastic job fitting into the movie and acted well. Overall, I would recommend this movie to any fan of the previous Pirate movies.

Bad teacher (2011) - Comedy

Bad teacher (2011) - BAD MOVIE

While a good amount of the movie was pretty funny, a film can't stand alone with jokes. There was no depth to the plot line whatsoever and nothing made sense at all. And YES, I chuckled... at the predictable storyline. Sex, drugs, alcohol and education. What a combination!

Paul (2011) - Adventure | Comedy | Sci-Fi

Paul (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

I enjoyed this film, I caught myself laughing out loud a couple of times, and spent most of the film with a happy grin on my face. Prepare yourself to deal with silly lines, bawdy language, hilarious scenes vaguely resembling a comedy of errors.
Overall, a fun adventure comedy for fans of comedy and Sci-Fi.

Red Riding Hood (2011) - Fantasy | Horror | Mystery

Red Riding Hood (2011) - BAD MOVIE

CSI Werewolf, take an episode of CSI, put in a Hollywood fairy tail of werewolves, add nice people, you have this film. What the hell? They just ruined the classic fairy tale! The Red Riding Hood I heard in my childhood was nowhere near what this movie was. I couldn't really care about the characters, or who lived or die and the film is just boring.
Quite why it's called Red Riding Hood apart from to sell he film is the bigger mystery, even all of CSI could not solve why this was given the green light. And what happened to any horror? the horror is seeing this film.

Blitz (2011) - Crime | Thriller

Blitz (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Surprisingly good police story and solid actors. At the beginning you get the impression that the movie will be lame, but the story evolves in timely well-coordinated steps.
Jason Statham performs exactly as expected. Aidan Gillan is satisfyingly slimy. Paddy Considine provides an effective portrayal of an interesting character.
The film is perfectly acceptable as what it is, but I particularly liked the opening car break-in and closing rooftop sequences.

Rio (2011) - Animation | Adventure | Comedy

Rio (2011) - GREAT ANIMATION

Rio is a animation that I loved and can appeal to everyone. If anyone out there for whatever reason is in a sad or angry mood, seeing this for an hour and a half should certainly lift your spirits. The music is great and will teach you how to shake your arms and legs and to move your bottom in rhythm. Long may the film's infectious joy and spirit last.

Arthur (2011) - Comedy

Arthur (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Arthur was a good movie, coming from someone who hasn't seen the original. This movie was well made funny, with bits of emotional content that will tug at your heart strings. Russell did a great job playing the out of control character. All in all, the acting was good and the comedy was great. Laughs everywhere even from some actors that I was expecting to make me laugh.

The Hit List (2011) - Action | Thriller

The Hit List (2011) - BAD MOVIE

This film had potential to be outstanding, but it couldn't sell me. I didn't buy much of the dialogue to be realistic or believable. I didn't buy the killers motives either. I understand they tried to explain it away with various reasons, but it just doesn't seem believable.
FINAL VERDICT: Nothing to great, I wouldn't watch it twice.

The Eagle (2011) - Adventure | Drama

The Eagle (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Predictable? Yes. Suspenseful? Perhaps, at times. I enjoy these type of action/adventure movies with an historical nature. The film itself I thought was entertaining enough. The costumes, the scenery and the battle scenes were all entertaining, and the storyline was basic and easy enough to follow.
So, in conclusion, I think I can give a moderate recommendation to The Eagle, because despite not being very memorable, some dull moments, it generally kept me interested.

Source Code (2011) - Action | Mystery | Sci-Fi

Source Code (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Overall, I thought this movie was an enjoyable experience. I guess it's possible to make a watchable movie even when it's confusing. The ending, which defies all logic, in particular left me scratching my head. I prefer Sci-Fi pictures that have plausibility, but must admit that I was entertained. Still, it does not deserve all the rave reviews.

Priest (2011) - Action | Horror | Sci-Fi

Priest (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

"Priest'' is based on a series of Korean graphic novels. So, do you like vampires? Do you like westerns? Do you fancy a post-apocalyptic world? This is your film. It's not a bad film. It's not a great film. If you like certain things, like I do - vampires, vampire killing in a kick-ass style and a certain visual je ne sais quoi, 'world view' that's unlike anything else out there, it's worth seeing.

Cedar Rapids (2011) - Comedy

Cedar Rapids (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

In my opinion this is an overall good movie. Don't expect it to blow your mind, the plot is not very elaborate, but at the same time you don't feel like the movie is going nowhere. It has fun parts and quiet parts making an overall decent movie. I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching it.

The Adjustment Bureau (2011) - Romance | Sci-Fi | Thriller

The Adjustment Bureau (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

Definitely a good movie. It was extremely thought-provoking and quite complex. A movie like "Inception", not by plot, but by the fact that you really must pay attention in order to see what's going on. The movie starts out a little bit unpromising, but gets better and better and better. Highly recommended!

No Strings Attached (2011) - Comedy | Romance

No Strings Attached (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

This was a very enjoyable movie. Sure the ending is predictable, but Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher fit very nicely together as the main characters, you could really tell they had fun working together.
The movie was constantly amusing and for me, brought a couple of really funny moments. It is hard not to have at least a half of a smile on your face through much of this.

The Resident (2011) - Drama | Mystery | Thriller

The Resident (2011) - BAD MOVIE

Didn't even finish watching it. Wasn't atmospheric enough or tense enough to overcome the wafer-thin plot. Its only plus point was the great Christopher Lee, in fine scary old man form - but he wasn't in it enough. Totally vacuous and, in my opinion, pointless.

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (2011) - Comedy

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (2011) - BAD MOVIE

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son is an alright film. It has a few good laughs and Martin Lawerence does a solid performance. The problems with this film is the story isn't really good at all, a lot of the scenes that try to be funny are just not funny at all and that last two Big Momma where more funnier and better then this one.

Limitless (2011) - Mystery | Sci-Fi | Thriller

Limitless (2011) - BEST MOVIE

I have to say Limitless is one of the best films I've seen in a long time, it moves so fast you don't have time to think. The movie is so unpredictable, and by the end you're left thinking 'Wouldn't that be great if it really happened?'

The Dilemma (2011) - Comedy | Drama

The Dilemma (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

The movie has some really funny moments, the two main characters worked well together and it's easy watching.
It not a great film, but it's not a bad either and it's perfect for a cold winter night when you just want to sit back and watch something entertaining while you relax.

The Rite (2011) - Drama | Horror | Thriller

The Rite (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

I came to see this movie with really low expectations. I thought it would be just another exorcism movie. But then, I was wrong. The story has its depth. Sure, it's on exorcism, but it doesn't end there alone. It explores different sides. The actors are great in giving the audiences the fright. Anthony Hopkins is really good.
All in all, worth watching if you're into supernatural horror movie.

Drive Angry (2011) - Action | Crime | Fantasy

Drive Angry (2011) - BAD MOVIE

Drive Angry is everything it wanted to be. It's a dumb, violent, road movie, filled with sadistic ridiculousness. Cage escapes from Hell to avenge his daughter. Meanwhile the cops are hot on his trail, as is a man known as The Accountant. That's all you need to know.

Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil (2011) - Animation | Comedy | Family

Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil (2011)  - GOOD ANIMATION

"Why are you reading that book? Nobody reads books anymore! Movies are always better, especially sequels." Hoodwinked Too may lack some of the better ideas of the original, but there is still some fun in this sequel. It is a little more daring, but it also has a better ending than I expected it to have. All in all, the film was OK.

Hall Pass (2011) - Comedy | Romance

Hall Pass (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

While not laugh out loud funny, this movie had its funny moments. As the movie progresses, it is pretty easy to predict the ending well in advance, but that is ok because it is funny to see these married men who have been out of the loop for a long time stumble and bumble their way trying to pick up women. This was a pleasent movie to watch with a couple of raunchy parts, not a classic but not a dud either.
No, this is not a kid's movie. For adults to enjoy.

The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) - Crime | Drama | Thriller

The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

I found this movie very enjoyable. The plot line was fantastic and left you on the edge of your seat, with both serious dramatic scenes to funny lines.
I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a solid crime/drama movie.
