Chronicle (2012) - Drama | Sci-Fi | Thriller

Chronicle (2012) - GREAT MOVIE

Finally a different kind of superhero movie! This movie does not involve super villains, spandex outfits, or a love story. This is the story of three normal high school kids who gain extraordinary powers, and begin using them for their own pleasure. This is a story of how great power can lead to great corruption. It also shows you what bullying, isolation, and ridicule could do to a person.
All in all, a film to be enjoyed, probably might even become a landmark on its own right because it dares to create magic, using every possible element in cinema: a solid script, decent acting, and a quite accomplished mix of technology.

SeeFood (2011) - Animation | Comedy

SeeFood (2011) - GOOD ANIMATION

This movie is a fun-filled adventure to a place filled with colorful characters and unending mystery-land. You will definitely believe that a shark can walk on land in the thrill-a-minute action and laugh-out-loud comedy, great for the entire family.

Night Wolf (2012) - Horror

Night Wolf (2012) - BAD MOVIE

There is no story and no point to anything really. There is a bit of a twist in the end - but there's no real substance here. A girl comes home from the US and in the night - the entire family gets massacred one by one - by a monster. There is little or no character development at all.
  Verdict: Don't waste your time!

Suspicion (2012) - Drama | Thriller

Suspicion (2012) - BAD MOVIE

This movie is a confusing mess of jarring action and bad acting. You watch it and then you would be like "What the hell?!"

The Lady (2011) - Biography | Drama

The Lady (2011) - GREAT MOVIE

It's an absolute success: Luc Besson has succeeded in bringing us to the Burma through a deeply humanistic and political involved history. The setting was wonderful, and I felt the cast played their parts marvellously. The audience has to think and imagine. How would it feel to lose your father at a young age? How would you respond to being asked to lead a protest to save your country, knowing the personal sacrifice that will involve? Superb drama about a real and tragic story that continues to play out.

Nazis at the Center of the Earth (2012) - Horror | Thriller

Nazis at the Center of the Earth (2012) - BAD MOVIE

This movie is not horror, it's just horrible! It lacks the professionalism of real feature films. There's no atmosphere, or suspense, NOTHING!

Hard Boiled Sweets (2012) - Crime | Thriller

Hard Boiled Sweets (2012) - BAD MOVIE

This movie is boring, the characters are clichéd, the plot badly-structured, it has no humour, no suspense, it's glib and cynical. 'Hard Boiled Sweets' fails to entertain, and stands only as a messy mash-up of cockney gangster stereotypes linked by the theme of old-fashioned sweets - even on paper (sugar or otherwise), that central concept sounds ridiculous.

Cassadaga (2011) - Horror | Thriller

Cassadaga (2011) - BAD MOVIE

This movie is a blended mix of genres, there was paranormal, gore (not over the top), a bit of a love story, horror, action, and a some drama tossed in for good measure. But, 'Cassadaga' never really gets above, or dips below average. It has its pacing issues and some issues of throwing too much at the audience, but it does settle into being a rather average modern horror flick. Watch if you fancy minor jumpy moments, and conventions of the genre to stay intact.

Cinema Verite (2011) - Drama

Cinema Verite (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

This movie is an interesting and enjoyable look at the beginnings of reality TV. I have never been a fan of reality TV, but it was very interesting to see how the genre began and the immediate impact that the show had.
Overall, an excellent movie, very interesting and makes me wonder how accurate it is.

The Samaritan (2012) - Thriller

The Samaritan (2012) - BAD MOVIE

This movie is awful. The Samaritan's plodding, meandering storyline with improbable/illogical plot points does not hold anything to the film noir of yesteryear. The only twist was the incest and that was played for cheap effect. Move along, folks, nothing to see here.

W.E. (2011) - Drama | History | Romance

W.E. (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

"W.E." had one hell of an uphill battle. Not only is it a period piece, but the film is also written and directed by the one woman in the world that makes people pass judgement before even experiencing her work. That woman is Madonna.
This film tells the story of Wallis Simpson and Edward, Prince of Wales who gave up his place as King of England to be with the woman he loved. It is one of those modern day fairy tales, we love. The juxtaposition of a parallel love story adds a new element to the Wallis/Edward story. Wallis, our heroine, named after Wallis Simpson uses that connection to help her explore the Wallis/Edward story and answer questions she has about her own life and marriage. I think Madonna has done a credible job writing this film. I recommend you see this film and enjoy the fairy tale.

God Bless America (2011) - Comedy

God Bless America (2011) - BAD MOVIE

I can't say I found what I was looking for in this movie. As the movie progressed, it went from justified anger to absurdity. It went from removing the ills of society to removing people you dislike. Realistically, if we removed people who we found annoying, we'd all be gone. The dialogue deteriorated to angst-ridden rants from a narrow and childish mind.
Overall, this movie is incredibly violent & incredibly stupid.

The Woman in the Fifth (2011) - Thriller

The Woman in the Fifth (2011) - BAD MOVIE

It's rather difficult to say what The Woman In The Fifth is about. It's certainly not about the woman in the Fifth (arronidssement?). The film works well as a dark and mysterious European thriller for the first two acts, but collapses in a series of unresolved dead ends in the third and final act. Nothing really makes sense, as there is no real denouement to the story - there is no final resolution or clarification of what has gone on or what is going on.
An interesting Euro Thriller which ultimately does not satisfy.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) - Action | Adventure | Crime

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

This movie is going to take you in a journey that won't show a predictable ending like Sherlock could predict. We learn the character's spirit and action, during the entire movie, as the mystery covers the whole story. With a sarcastic British humor, the movie blends with an enigmatic taste and action. The storyline is heavily not left behind by the visual effects, which at a top quality, is still surpassed by the greatness of the characters storyline.
With a story full of spins & twists, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", is definitely the kind of movie you can watch and pass through all emotions.

Haywire (2011) - Action | Thriller

Haywire (2011) - BAD MOVIE

An absolute fiasco! Bad sounds effects, bad visual effects, bad screenplay. Such an incredible waste of the talented actors that worked in this one. Seriously. WTF? This movie caused me to yawn more than being on a surgical table.

Hysteria (2011) - Comedy | Romance

Hysteria (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

'Hysteria' is the not-exceedingly-accurate story of the man who invented (of all things) the vibrator, in the midst of Victorian England and the laughable ideals of the time. As a light hearted comedy, it succeeds above and beyond the call of duty. As historical document, it lets itself slip into more comfortable Hollywood territory, but not in any reproachable way - it's a delightful character romp, getting heaps of help from the astounding weirdness of the Victorians themselves, if only in stereotype.
All in all 'Hysteria' is a fun movie, with good actors, a good story and, if that's important for you, a great happy end.

Dragon Eyes (2012) - Action | Crime | Drama

Dragon Eyes (2012) - BAD MOVIE

'Dragon Eyes' is a major disappointment. During approximately 80 minutes of screen time, the simple plot meanders and seems total nonsense. The action's not engaging and I really didn't care. I just couldn't wait for it to be over so I could put this all behind me. It's not that it's a really bad film, it's just that it's bland and poorly put together.

Joyful Noise (2012) - Comedy | Music

Joyful Noise (2012) - WORST MOVIE

Worst movie I have ever had the misfortune of witnessing in my entire life. The characters didn't speak lines. They simply spouted one cliché after another. They were all as stereotyped as movie characters come. It dragged on and on. If you are looking for a movie to make fun off, this is perfect. You'll be "Booing" before its even over.

The Innkeepers (2011) - Horror | Thriller

The Innkeepers (2011) - BAD MOVIE

Nothing happened for a reason. Nothing happened besides idle chat between useless characters played by bad actors. No attempted explanations of supernatural events. No ending, the movie just kind of stops after a lousy scene. There was none creepy moment in the whole movie. Keep your brain cells and watch something else.

Shame (2011) - Drama

Shame (2011) - BAD MOVIE

"Shame" is a film filled with sex of every persuasion and absolutely no answers. This is a bad film, with a bad script, with gratuitous use of sex, with not-explained inferences and without a message and ending. Do not waste your time watching it. It's not a train wreck from which one cannot avert one's eyes; it's just a generic wreck that is faceless, dispassionate, and distant.

Gone (2012) - Drama | Thriller

Gone (2012) - BAD MOVIE

"Gone" is abysmal. The dialogue is as forgettable as the characters are one dimensional. There are no genuine surprises that could with the revelation about who the serial killer is or what his motives were. One of the Portland police detectives exits the film for a long stretch making himself look suspicious. Eventually, after Jill proves that she isn't a lunatic, she dispenses vigilante justice. The far-fetched ending and the incredible cell phone that our heroine can talk on for long lengths of time in the depths of the woods undermine this occasionally atmospheric nail-biter.  Rather watch C.S.I. or Criminal Minds!

Seven Below (2012) - Thriller | Horror

Seven Below (2012) - BAD MOVIE

This movie is awful, really, really awful. A crime to this entertainment! So don't say that you haven't been warned, and that you did not know this, okay?

Meeting Evil (2012) - Crime | Drama | Mystery

Meeting Evil (2012) - BAD MOVIE

Don't expect anything from this waste of reel, based on a novel, only less interesting and less captivating. The plot says Samuel L. Jackson is a serial killer and Luke was supposed to be a victim and then turned apprentice (not that he didn't try to escape). As the plot plays out we get drag down a boring road of killings and dull dialogues.
All in all, if you have not heard of this movie or have not seen it, just be happy.

New Year's Eve (2011) - Comedy | Romance

New Year's Eve (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

To me, this movie is a sequel to Valentine's Day, even though some actors from the first play different characters. I would describe it as a modern fairy tale, with fast-moving action and great actors. Just like all fairy tales, occasionally it is illogical and unbelievable, it is full of clichés and stereotypes, but these all suit the movie, in my opinion. The message of hope and love is what matters here. This is a film that made me feel good and therefore it was worth watching. 'New Year's Eve' is a nice refreshment movie with its positive attitude towards life.

Angels Crest (2011) - Drama

Angels Crest (2011) - BAD MOVIE

Angels Crest is full of all the clichés of indie movies. No heroes, no anti-heroes. No moral, no point. No rhyme or reason.
Overall, the heavy emotional part of the movie is lost between the bad screenplay and characterization.

Black Gold (2011) - Drama

Black Gold (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

The title of this film misleadingly gives the impression that it is going to be about oil. It is not. Even though it is set against the background of the Arab nations as emerging gold producers, it is actually about resistance to, and embracing of, change, as embodied in the leadership of two tribes at odds over an area of oil bearing land, and the son of one of the leaders who is caught up in the middle. It is a sprawling epic, with some stunning visuals of desert and battles, but it never really captures a sense of grandeur or significance. It also addresses to the difference between traditionalists and modernisers.
This film holds the attention throughout its 130 minutes, but doesn't leave much of a mark afterwards.

Man on a Ledge (2012) - Crime | Thriller

Man on a Ledge (2012) - GOOD MOVIE

The story is good enough to make me feel entertained. The title itself has described what situation is the main character, Nick (Sam Worthington), in most part of the movies. However, the ending is anti-climax. It looks like, the director and the writer ran out of good ideas about the way to end this very good movie. Or maybe they just ran out of time so they want to finish this movie quickly. It is too "easy" for me how Nick can solve all of his problem in the end.
Nevertheless, it is a very nice movie and you won't waste your time watching it.

Contraband (2012) - Action | Crime | Drama

Contraband (2012) - GOOD MOVIE

'Contraband' is an exciting fast paced thriller full of suspense with a slight bit of comedy. It might have an unoriginal storyline, but it is done so well it doesn't even really matter.
In my opinion, this is a refreshing take on a good old fashioned 'good guy vs. bad guys' and crafty drug smugglers who outwit even the most competent customs agents. Fun, fun, fun. I was rooting for the smugglers the whole time!

Special Forces (2011) - Action | Adventure | Drama

Special Forces (2011) - GREAT MOVIE

This is the kind of movie that starts out just like any other war story complete with macho Rambo stunts and all, and then all of a sudden it hits you. This was never meant to be a movie about throwing grenades and punches, although the gun play is entertaining, its the decisions and sacrifices that this motley group of six special forces commandos make that gets you.
This movie is not trying to be over dramatic that makes it realistic and touching. It has it's flaws, but not major ones. It's much, much more than a action movie, so don't miss it!

Intruders (2011) - Horror | Thriller

Intruders (2011) - GOOD MOVIE

"Intruders" is not a horrific story centered on evil forces trying to kill someone, it is rather a mysterious thrilling story that looks for a solution to get rid of a delusional monster that has realistic signs and effects on those who got connected to him.
I did enjoy this movie, but I felt that it drifted a few times during the mid section. Still the journey was an intriguing one, at times scary and definitely worth a watch.

Bending the Rules (2012) - Action | Drama

Bending the Rules (2012) - BAD MOVIE

This "story" is just so confusing and not even worth wasting your time on. What is this? A redneck entertainment? Who wants to hear about the misery of a B-coop loser and a B-lawyer loser in New Oreleans? This is just run-of-the-mill and so boring...
